Daniel Neer’s five poems, one for each borough, encompass a wide range of experiences and emotions Hurricane Sandy brought upon us New Yorkers: from tragedy and fear, to wistful resignation, to playfulness and, ultimately, hope. My music tries to match his emotional scope and provide some larger perspective and meaning to the whole ordeal, only the latest in the age-old cycle of death, destruction, renewal and rebirth.
