TEACHING

"What a fantastic experience for my students to have Daniel to work with them! He is a master of vocal pedagogy; that elusive teacher who not only sets the perfect example, but can quickly diagnose issues and offer immediate solutions."  E.V., Private Vocal Coach

"Daniel was able to relate to my choirs in a very powerful way. The information he shared,  the demonstrations he gave, an the activities heused to engage the students...gave students a fresh way of thinking of their instrument and the control to make it great. His presentation was professional and practical."   S.C., Bellefontaine Public Schools, Ohio

"Daniel was just what our drama and choral students needed! He related to them so easily and helped them believe in themselves and do things they never knew they could. They can't wait to work with him again!"   C.T. Monroeville Public Schools, Ohio

Cultivate and foster the growth and potential of each individual student...

regardless of age, experience, or background.  This has always been a core value of my teaching.  My style focuses on a positive and spirited approach to singing, with personalized voice lessons or group coaching that encompass elements of mindful breathing, ear training, improvisation, and creative storytelling. I offer a sound technique that is the foundation for a wide range of musical styles, from  the classical legit repertoire to commercial and contemporary music (CCM), including musical theatre, jazz, R&B and pop/rock genres.

I studied music, theater and vocal pedagogy at The Royal Academy of Music in London, England (L.R.A.M., AdvDip.), the University of Michigan (S.M. Voice Perf.), and The Ohio State University (B. Mus). I am currently on the voice faculty of Temple University in Philadelphia, as well as Mannes Prep program (pre college)  at The New School in New York City. I am also a frequent artist-educator in residence at Otterbein University's departments of theater and music in Westerville, Ohio.

My teaching experience includes positions on the voice faculties of The Peabody Preparatory of Johns Hopkins University, Swarthmore College, Kenyon College, American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA), National Children’s Chorus, and Berkshire Choral International.  Many of my past students have gone on to perform on Broadway and London’s West End, as well as regional theater, national tours, film and television. For my extensive work with high school and college musical theater students in my home state of Ohio, I recently received the honored distinction of Remarkable Attainment by the Ohio Senate and the 129th General Assembly for artistic achievements in teaching and mentoring young performers, and was honored by my high school alma mater by being inducted into the Dublin City Schools Hall of Fame.
