Metamorphosis

Poet: Daniel Neer | Composer: Scott Gendel

On college green from limestone tower height
The lady regent calmly takes her flight
From thorny nest she leaves the bitter cup
Flips blue-sky downward, concrete walkway up
With trumpet fanfare blast the pain is burned
Scorched white-hot clean from painful lessons learned
As Echo flies from dismal wooded cage
A freedom flight from loneliness and rage
With swift dispatch a carillon release
Toward a home of never-ending peace
Through brilliant mirrored portal dazzling bright
She soars with bursting deafness into light.
